As President Barack Obama angles for a nuclear revival, a new generation of safe and clean nuclear energy power plants will be the wave of the future. President Obama's 2011 budget triples the amount of loan guarantees for nuclear power plants to $54 billion. As other countries, including the United Kingdom, push to open new nuclear power plants, industry lobbyists have been successfully encouraging the Obama administration to do the same, reports USA Today. A majority of Americans now support nuclear power, according to polls. Safety and security remain a concern but the biggest roadblock to the industry's revival is what to do with spent fuel rods. According to ABI Research, shipments of such tablet computing devices are expected to reach about 57 million annually. The high-profile launch by Apple last week of its long-rumored iPad tablet computing device highlights this trend. Tablet computing devices will primarily focus on entertainment, claims ABI. Laptops are focused on productivity, and mobile phones are still primarily about communication. Users can perform activities such as watching videos, Web surfing, usingFacebook or IM and reading e-mails with these media tablets. Some analysits suggest that the iPad could save journalism by enticing people to pay for digital newspaper and magazine subscriptions in a world where most online news content is given away free of charge. A tablet won't replace a laptop, netbook or mobile phone, but could remain an additional premium or luxury product for wealthy industrialized markets for at least several years.
